Microsoft Process Mining is a so-called process mining tool that allows you to easily analyze (log) data from various systems.

This analysis then provides rich insights for process improvements.

Process Mining helps to gain better insight into processes based on (log) data from various systems, such as SAP, Dynamics and Salesforce.

What do I need to get started with Microsoft Process Mining?

All you need is a browser, a Microsoft account, and a valid Power Automate license. You can then easily start on the Microsoft Power Platform.

It is recommended to have data ready for analysis by Process Mining. Unless you plan to use the 'record' feature via Task Mining.

What is Task Mining?

Task Mining is analyzing the data from digital tasks that you perform. When you perform a task on the computer, each action (each click and keystroke) generates a data point. When you bring these data points together and analyze them in a tool like Task Mining, this can result in interesting insights. For example, you can identify which action took the longest.

What is Process Mining?

As the name suggests, process mining is: mining in processes. Using tools such as Microsoft Process Mining, you can navigate your way through the data of your processes. The purpose of this is to obtain unique insights that help optimize processes.

What is the difference between Process Mining and Task Mining?

Although both types have many similarities, the biggest difference is that Process Mining focuses more on 'the bigger picture', namely: processes. This includes questions such as: what steps does a process include? And how many variants of the process are there?

Task mining, on the other hand, looks at the micro actions within a process. This includes questions such as: what is being clicked and what is being typed?
